So I just made the connection tonight while re-watching Dollhouse that Spartacus creator Steven S. DeKnight just happens to have been involved in a bunch of other shows that I love.  Besides serving as the consulting producer on Dollhouse (for which he also wrote and directed an episode), he has been involved in varying capacities (ranging from producing to writing to directing) on Smallville, Angel, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised since a lot of my favorite series tend to have similar crews, but I just thought this was kind of cool.
